Felt Learning Clock Tutorial

Lately my daughter has been asking what time it is and what time events are at (example, suppertime, naptime, what time daddy comes home, etc).  What kinda sucks is that our kitchen clock is nice and big, but it has roman numerals all over it instead of numbers.  Not exactly how I want her to learn to tell time.  So to help her learn and teaching her numbers at the same time, I took matters into my own hands and made her a learning clock.  So, if you want to make one of these....

Follow along!
Here's what you need:
felt in a variety of colors
sewing machine or hot glue gun
velcro (optional)

First of all, pick out your felt.  I chose white for my clock face and grey to back it only because the white was slightly translucent.
Trace out a large circle onto both pieces.
Cut out both pieces of felt.
Find some number stencils or cutters.
 Cut out all your numbers from felt.  1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 1+0, 1+1, 1+2.
For the center, trace and cut out a small circle.
And two arrows, one long, one short.
Fit all your pieces on your clock (be sure they all fit).
This next part is optional.  I decided I wanted the clock to be able to fold with the pieces all tucked inside.  Probably some better ways to go about this.  But I chose for it to fold with two pieces that velcro it shut.
So cut out two strips of felt.
Cut out two velcro pairs and place where you want them for the clock to fold and close.
You can sew these pieces on or hot glue them if you don't sew.
Then hot glue the two circle pieces together.
 And you're done!
You can place all your pieces in the center and velcro it closed like a pita!  Mmm.  Pita.

Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy your pita.. I mean learning clock!  Have fun!  :)
