Lingerie to Princess Dress-Up

Nope, this is not an April Fool's joke!!
My daughter LOVES dress up.  When she's in her playroom, she's in her dress up clothes.  Whether it's a princess dress, or a fancy hat and tutu or just a ton of accessories, she wears it to play.  Not even to play make believe, just to put on and be fancy and pretty.  So, I decided to add some to her collection by digging into my (gasp!) old lingerie.  Yep, I did.  But it works, don't you think?
Hee, hee!  Never would've thought it was lingerie, right?  It was so easy and fun, this is what I did.  I took this:
Added ruching to the top.  Wind elastic on your bobbin and coordinating thread on your spool and sew 8 lines all the way around.
Then I cut off the straps and used ribbon to make new ones.
I measured it out on my daughter to see how long she'd need them.
It was still a little loose on top, so I added a few pleats on the front, back and sides.
I added two layers of tulle under the skirt portion of the dress.  I did that by turning the dress inside out, folding the top inside itself, then gathered pinned the two layers of tulle under where the ruching was.  Then, I sewed it all around.
The dress was a little plain as far as princess dresses go, so I added a pretty flower...
 Some ribbon...
 Hot glued them together....
Then, hot glued them to the dress.
Done!  So fast and easy.. my favorite kinds of projects.  I really tried to get a picture of her in it, but she was a little bit cranky today.. :(

Enjoy your weekend!!

That's so cute!! Who knew lingerie could be perfect for dress up? Ok...to tell you the truth, my 3 year old has found my lingerie and wears them as princess dresses. She's even answered the door in one (it was my neighbor...). Maybe I'll have to actually change it into a princess dress one day!! :)
