Felt Baby Doll Bib Tutorial

I only have one daughter.. but it seems there's never enough 'stuff' for her baby doll's.  Not in my opinion.  Her's.  I try to make the little doll accessories since they're always WAY overpriced at the store.  I made a few doll bib's in the past, but put a lot more work into them.  Then it hit me.. felt!  It's perfect for her toys because felt is pretty resilient and easy to care for, as well as, easy to make stuff with.  I've made baby doll diapers with felt.  So bib's should've been common sense for me.
I whipped up a few for her and decided to show you how to make some of your own, too.
All you need:
   felt
   scissors
   ribbon scraps
sewing machine (or for a no-sew project:  fabric glue or fusible web)
   velcro

First things first, take some felt in about a 6 inch x 6 inch piece.  Using a jar or container (that's approximately the same circumference as the doll's neck) to trace the neck of the bib.  Be sure you're leaving about an inch of felt on the top of the tracing.
Use a marker or fabric pen to trace your circle.
Then you can sketch a bib-like shape around the circle.  Is this asking too much?  I'm not a very good artist, but I drew this freehand.  I don't think it needs to be perfect.. it's just for a doll, right?
Cut your bib out of the felt.
Now get your ribbon scraps and rummage through to find some fun coordinating colors (or not, have fun with the colors!)
I did three pieces in this sort of pattern.
Pin them where you wish to sew them on (you can laugh at my pinning job.. I am.)  If you're not sewing them on, use your fabric glue or fusible web to attach the ribbons.
Pin on your velcro pieces at the neck straps.
Sew them on.  I sewed along the borders of the ribbon just because the ribbon was a little wide.  If yours is thin, just one sewed line I think would do.  You be the judge.
All sewn up, now you can trim your velcro and ribbon pieces.

Done.  In minutes.. it's so easy!

Have fun!  See you all tomorrow!
