Bright & Cheery Lamps

I finally painted my lamps from this post.  It seems like it took me forever to get around to painting them.  Plus I could not figure out what color I wanted them.  To be honest, I'm not sure I'm 100% sold on them still.  I love the idea of yellow lamps, but the color... just not quite right.

I'm letting them sit in my livingroom in the meantime to help me decide if they work or not.  The thing that gets me, too, is that they look like two different colors during the day and at night.  (Night color works for me.. day time it gives off an orangey tone).

But for now, they are what they are!
What do you think?  Too mustard looking?

Anyways, this is the before.

Lovely shape, icky brass.

After a coat of primer...

I then taped off the bottom to spray the top with a silver paint.

Once dry, I covered the tops with newspaper and taped it off.

Then painted it with this color:  Marigold.

And again, the result:

Not bad for 5 bucks a piece, right?  I did use the lamp shades from my old lamps, and I love the way they look together.

Well, hope you have a fabulous Monday!!

I like the colour. Looks nice. I have a similar lamp I bought for almost nothing at a hotel renovation sale. I haven't painted it yet, but this is making me second guess that decision. Thanks for linking up at Etcetorize~

Hi - very nice. The color really pops. So much better than before! I can't believe people actually bought lamps like that years ago - no other choices I guess!

I love them! I have a thing for revising lamps. I've found several lately - so many I'm not sure what to do with them! Yours turned out beautiful, and I love the shades you paired with them.

Those look great! I spray painted very similar ones turquoise and then put an antiquing glaze and distressed them. But I can't decide what to do with the shades...so they are still sitting on my counter unused (and unblogged)!

It might be my monitor but to me they look orange and orange is oh so trendy right now so maybe it is a good thing. I think they are fun and cheerful. I have had a really good yellow from WalMart though that may be closer to what you were going for. I can't remember the name of it but here in Iowa we call it Hawkeye Gold. :0
