As I mentioned on Friday's post, I was asked to help out with decorations and create a dessert/candy table for a 50th birthday party this Saturday. I figured I'd share my finished dessert table with you all today.
Keep in mind, I was given less than 7 days to plan, make, purchase and create the colors, ideas and treats for the table. The planning was very last minute, but since I love parties, I couldn't say no! Plus it was such an honor to be asked to do this for them.
We decided on a red, blue and white theme since they were simple and easy to plan around. Anyways, enjoy!
The dessert table consisted of (from left to right): 'Enlarged Hearts' which were strawberry marshmallow candies, pill cups filled Mike & Ike candies and tic tacs, 'Thermometers' that were white chocolate dipped pretzels, Red cross chocolate covered oreos, 'Clogged Arteries' that were Live Wire candies, 'Bruised Feet' which were blue sour candy feet (this was used because the birthday boy loved to run), 'Cotton Balls' which was marshmallows and blue jello.
The backdrop we wanted simple, with a hospital feel. So using a blue shower curtain, we went for a sterile look (somewhat similar to the hospital curtains that separate beds in a room). The medical poster/chart was requested as well.
You can't get think of 'hospital food' without thinking of jello, right!?
I printed out very simple labels and was able to use ribbon and paper leftover from my
Circus party.
Thanks for stopping by!!
Hope your Monday is marvelous.

Oh my goodness what a creative and beautiful idea! When I saw the name of the link on rednesday I thought, "hmmm?" but you really took a tough theme and made it great! thanks for sharing!
ok that is adorable, but the clogged arteries and enlarged harts are hilarious and gross at the same time, great job!
This is so awesome! As a science geek this whole party makes me giddy! I LOVE the pretzel thermometers!
Awesome! What creativity you have! I like the thermometers and cotton balls best!
This is so funny. I love it and I know everyone in attendance and the birthday person had a fine old time with lots of laughs. When my neighbor turned 40 MANY years ago, we all wore black armbands with Red 40’a on them. One of our buddies owned a funeral home and he brought a HUGE cardboard stand up thingy with an open casket on it. We cracked up. All beverages and food were gotten as black as possible. This is the kind of thing that happens when you are best friends with the funeral director. We still talk about it and laugh. genie
Adorable. I love your dipped pretzels. They would be a super-cute good-well treat. I'm pinning, thanks!
I work at a hospital, so all of your great ideas made me smile!! Such a cool theme. I would love for you to link this up to my party at Grits & Giggles! http://www.gritsandgiggles.blogspot.com/2012/04/i-made-this_18.html

Really cute and so much fun! Love the details and the food items you chose..very creative:D I can't imagine what you would have put together if you had more than 7 days! Also, if I didn't read your post, I would have thought the labels were intended to imitate a doctor's business card... so they were actually perfect! Great job!!

I've been over the moon and slightly obsessed with this party since you linked up last week. I live in a city with a large teaching hospital. A lot of my friends are married to residents and are always throwing parties as their husbands join the medical field and get done with residency!! This would be PERFECT for that!! I'm featuring you at tomorrow's Mop It Up Monday {coming out later tonight}! Hope you've had a wonderful weekend!

Thank you so much for this!!!! My daughter Almost 8) wants a hospital theme for her upcoming birthday (she has wanted to be a doctor since she was 2). This is perfect!!!!! Bless you for creating something beautiful out of medicine! Now, can you recommend a good cake idea? She is vacillating between a medical procedure cake and a stethoscope cake.
@LakeMom How adorable!! A simple white cake with some fun 'doctor tools' would look great! But I think your daughter would love it either way! Have fun!!
Love every single detail ♥
