How was everyone's (in Canada) Thanksgiving weekend?
We had fun seeing our family and, of course, being thankful for them. And even filling our faces with turkey. I can always appreciate turkey. Mmm.
Today I thought I'd share with you all my new Halloween kitchen towels. My 'Ribbon Trimmed Halloween Dish Towels' to be exact.
Such an easy way to add to your tea towels. Let me show you how I made them.
I picked up some el cheapo dish towels at the dollar store and I had some Halloween ribbon in my stash already. So this project cost me next to nothing.
For the black one, I went with my thinner skull and bat ribbon. Measure out the width of your towel with your ribbon adding about an inch on either side.
Cut two pieces like that.
Pin your ribbon along the bottom of your towel like so.
For the ends, just wrap it around the back of the towel and pin.
Sew along the edges of the ribbon, including the sides.
As for this one, it had a weird decoration in the front, it made my options slim.
I measured out the wide ribbon, but it still didn't cover the entire area.
So I used a thin ribbon for the top. Measure them both out and cut.
First pin the wide one on.
Then sew around the sides and bottom ONLY, leaving the top untouched.
Once that's done, you can then pin on the thin ribbon having it overlap the edge of the top of your wide ribbon.
Sew along the edges again. Overlapping the ribbon makes it look a little neater, at least I thought so.
Here's the back. I actually used white thread for the bobbin and black for my spool. Just so I wouldn't have black thread on the back. But it really doesn't matter too much.
There you have it.
Quick and festive Halloween towels.
These would be great for a Halloween hostess gift, don't you think?
